 Introduction
The SMW (Standard Metal Window) "F" series is the original steel window
section which has been manufactured since the 1920's and
installed into thousands of properties throughout the world. It is
still widely used for replacing existing SMW windows, especially those
installed prior to 1948 when galvanising was first introduced. Windows
prior to this are susceptible to rusting and where they occur in
Conservation Areas or similar this range can offer an exact match for the
existing, albeit in a single glazed format only which will not meet the
requirement of Part L of the Building Regulations (and for which approval
will be required from the Local Authority Building Control department and
Conservation Officer). The range itself is an established domestic steel window
offering unrivalled elegance through its small and profiled sightlines.
This coupled with its relatively high performance figures and the natural
strength and security steel offers gives a product that has been in
production for the past 80+ years and is still in demand today. Of
course, there have been advances in the windows such as galvanising,
weatherstripping and factory powder coating but none of these have affected
in any way the sightlines or basic steel section profiles. Available in a vast standard size range
(for lowest pricing) or purpose made sizes. Available in single
glazed format only (refer to EB14 and EB24 ranges for double glazed
replacements for this product). A
large range of quality modern or traditional ironmongery can be fitted and the system includes
many opening window types which are detailed in the below table.
This range is suitable for
1/2 hour integrity fire rated applications using wired glass (contact
our technical department with your enquiry for full details).

SMW range of
purpose-made hot-rolled mild steel section and generally manufactured in

only).
Glass
All single
