SMW
The original steel window section.  This section offers the smallest sections available in steel windows and is used predominately for domestic applications but is just as versatile in light commercial projects.  This section, also known as the "F" series range has been widely used since the 1920's and despite advancements such as galvanizing, factory applied polyester powder coating and weatherstripping - still offers the best value for money during a considerably long life span.  Available made to measure or in vast range of cheaper standard sizes and elevations.  Opening window types include Top Hung,  Side Hung Open Out and Single / Double Open Out Doors and Reversible Pivot windows.  Available for single glazing only.  Where double glazing is required - see the "EB" range below.

GLASS:  Outside putty or beads up to 10mm (single glazed only)
FIRE RATING:  Possible when bead glazing.
PART L COMPLIANCY:  Not compliant in any configuration

C55
A modern commercial-standard steel door screen system constructed from cold-rolled box section steel (as opposed to mild rolled steel used on other ranges).  Based on the Italian Secco system, the 55mm front-to-back coupled with superior strength of cold formed steel allows this system to be used for medium-high traffic situations such as schools, leisure centres etc. where SMW, W20 and W40 range doors are less suitable.   A large range of quality ironmongery can be fitted and the system includes matching sections for top / side hung opening windows for use as fan or side lights.  This range is suitable, via its steel clip on beads, for fire rated applications.  It is an ideal replacement for failing entrance doors and also as a product suitable for modern new builds.  See the product sheet for full details.

EB24
A modern and high performance replacement window range for domestic steel windows offering the same aesthetic elegance but vastly increased performance to meet the current stringent Building Regulations. The range is suitable for replacing existing domestic steel windows, new build domestic applications such as extensions and light commercial projects where cost is a consideration.  Available in a vast standard size range (for lowest pricing) or purpose made sizes.  Available in high performance double glazed format to meet the stringent thermal requirements of Part L of the Building Regulations (24mm units).  A large range of quality modern or traditional ironmongery can be fitted and the system includes many opening window types (refer product sheet).   This range is not suitable for fire rated applications at present due to the aluminium beads used.

FIRE RATING:  Not possible at present due to aluminium beads
PART L COMPLIANCY:  Yes, with Argon gas filled soft coat units

W20
A truly versatile commercial standard steel window section offering a larger front-to-back 33mm dimension than the 25mm EB14 and SMW range and with thicker steel walls to provide extra strength to allow unsupported multi-floor spanning screens. Available in single or double glazed format (16mm units), this section is ideal for both curtain walling or single windows.  The system is designed made-to-measure and offers equal or extended leg perimeter fixings to suit all applications.  A large range of quality ironmongery can be fitted and the system includes many opening window types (refer  product sheet).  This range is suitable for 1/2 hour integrity fire rated applications when using Wired glazing, and can also be used with un-wired fire resistant glazing in smaller panes (see fire rated windows page for more details).

GLASS OP 2:  Inside or outside putty up to 10mm single glass.

EB14
A cost effective alternative to the EB24 range and manufactured to be a double glazed replacement for existing SMW "F" series steel windows which have been manufactured since the 1920's and installed into thousands of properties throughout the world.  It is the correct choice for those upgrading existing steel windows in Conservation areas or similar where special exemptions apply to Part L -(subject Building Control acceptance).  The range itself is a high performance replacement window range for domestic steel windows offering the same aesthetic elegance but vastly increased performance. It is suitable for replacing existing domestic steel windows, new build domestic applications such as extensions and light commercial projects. Available in a vast standard size range (for lowest pricing) or purpose made sizes.  Available in double glazed format (14mm units).  A large range of quality modern or traditional ironmongery can be fitted and the system includes many opening window types (refer product sheet).  This range is not suitable for fire rated applications at present due to the aluminium beads used.

FIRE RATING:  Not possible at present due to aluminium beads
PART L COMPLIANCY: Only with expensive Xenon gas fill units

W40
A modern and versatile commercial standard steel window section offering an impressive front-to-back dimension of 40mm.  This allows more versatility of design due to its greater strength, whilst maintaining the slim profiles for which steel windows are renowned.  With thicker steel walls, unsupported multi-floor spanning is permissible.  Available in high performance double glazed format (26mm units), this section is ideal for both curtain walling or single windows.  The system is designed made-to-measure and offers differing perimeter sections to suit all applications.  A large range of quality ironmongery can be fitted and the system includes many opening window types (refer  product sheet).  This range is suitable for up to 1 hour integrity fire rating when used with profiled steel beads and 20mm units (see fire rated windows page).  This section has been designed to be an enhancement of, and an ideal replacement for the well established W20 section, but offers 26mm glazing to meet the thermal requirements of the Building Regulations and providing advanced draining and ventilation of the glazing system.
